Daniel Zelmanoff, MD-PhD, originally from Israel, began his scientific journey at Tel Aviv University, where he earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology, before going on to complete medical school. He recently earned his PhD in Neuroscience at the Weizmann Institute of Science, working with Prof. Ofer Yizhar to develop a non-invasive optogenetic approach for studying the role of oxytocin in early life social behavior.

Now a visiting postdoctoral fellow in the Marlin Lab, Daniel collaborates with Dr. Courtney McDermott to investigate how parental buffering shapes stress resiliency in the developing brain.

Outside the lab, Daniel enjoys spending time with his two daughters, running, doing pilates, hitting the drums, and planning his next beach vacation.
