Dr. Briana McRae is a neurobiology and behavior PhD candidate and F31 NRSA fellow. Briana did her undergrad at MIT, where she studied brain and cognitive sciences and computer science. As an undergrad, she became interested in studying how activity across multiple brain regions supports naturalistic behaviors. This led Briana to the Marlin Lab, where she is now using whole-brain imaging and behavioral methods to study how maternal experience shapes responses to infant cues.

Outside the lab, Briana enjoys dancing, doodling, exploring the city, and letting everyone know she’s from New Jersey. She also is passionate about science outreach, advocacy, and policy, as evidenced by her leadership in Columbia University Neuroscience Outreach, SfN Early Career Policy Ambassadors, and other programs that serve to increase the accessibility and societal impact of science.
